About

I grew up in the suburbs of Minnesota and enjoyed creating worlds in my imagination and sandbox. Many hours were spent daydreaming about places that never existed and people I will never meet. The most fun I had in my childhood was when would go up north to our cabin. The lake and the woods was the best playground I could ever ask for.

I started playing video games later in my childhood and it was awesome to be able to visit people and places as rich and deep as I had imagined in my younger years. This spurred my drive to create these worlds that I had envisioned and I had found my medium to do so, video games.

I attended DigiPen Institute of Technology in Washington and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in Real Time Interactive Simulation. During my schooling I learned a lot about programming and about working in teams. In my time at DigiPen I worked on five different teams to make 2D and 3D games. On these teams I helped build 2 different 2D engines and a 3D game engine from the ground up using C and C++. I also did work with Unity creating a game and a extension for the engine to create procedurally generated terrains.

Since college I have worked on Minecraft through various avenues. I was a part of the gameplay team that shipped The Update Aquatic, and then was a part of the team working on the official scripting API for the windows 10 version of the game. When my contract was up I joined one of the official Minecraft Marketplace partner teams and worked on several projects with them include a couple prototypes for non Minecraft projects. Early in 2020 I had the opportunity to work on Minecraft again. This time with the CMake and Build pipeline teams. I worked with with these teams to support the Minecraft developers in all their updates.

In 2021 I started working on Fortnite. Over the past few years I have learned a lot about Unreal Engine 5 and the Fortnite Creative ecosystem. It has been a great experience to create and maintain the devices that creators use to develop some of the most innovative experiences in the metaverse that Epic is creating.
